Jay had saved up $6 from his allowance and birthday money. He is very logical & thought very hard about what he wanted to buy. We compared prices and looked at just about everything on every aisle of the toy section of the store. He weighed his options and did the math to make sure that he had enough to pay for his items with the tax. When he had finally chosen the perfect toys, we headed to pick up a few things for his mom's birthday. When all the shopping was finished we walked up to the front to pay for our selections. He made his purchase all by himself and pocketed his change, rejoicing in the fact that he still had money left over. As we were walking out we approached the Salvation Army Santa bucket & bell & Jay pulled out his change before we even got there! He put the remainder of his hard-earned/saved money in the bucket. I almost cried as I asked if he knew what they did with the money & he replied they help people! So sweet!!
We spent the car ride home talking about what all his money could possibly be used for and how there are families in the world that don't get Christmas presents and don't have special food to eat for the holidays. I was such a proud Aunt that day; he got it.
