This was the nickname that my DTS (Discipleship Training School) was given by every speaker we had. Speakers who had been to our base countless times, teaching to hundreds of students through the years. Speakers who are world-reknown in YWAM traveling all over teaching all throughout the year. Every single week the speaker would brag on us to our leaders or make a comment during class that we were the best DTS they had ever taught. I'm not exactly sure what made us stand out in their eyes but I do know what makes this school and group of students, staff, leaders and teachers stand out in mine.

I moved to Ensenada, Mexico in September of 2006 to join a group of 32 students from all over the world (literally) for this thing called DTS. When I first signed on 2 months prior, I didn't even know what DTS stood for or even what to expect. I just knew that in order to work for YWAM (which I also had never heard of much less knew anything about) I had to complete it successfully. From the first moment I heard the details I knew this was God's leading. I was jumping in head-first to what God had for me next. The next 5 months were filled with joy, laughter, lack of sleep, really hard work, early mornings, incredible conversations, life-changing teachings, overcoming obstacles, discipleship, small groups, formal parties, and some of the best relationships a person could ever ask for.
I can't believe that 6 years has passed already. Several of my classmates are still on staff with us and others are still involved in ministry in various parts of the world. We are still considered the Best DTS Ever, even if there are fewer calling us that now. These moments in time will be forever etched into my history and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to still be serving alongside so many who made this possible for me.
We now have so many options for students to choose from and so many focuses that help students expand their world-view and learn more about how to serve in the areas they are passionate about. To see our upcoming schools, check out our website.
