In some ways I feel like these past 10 years have flown by and other ways it feels like 30. (Can you believe it, Tym & Sam?)
Over the last 10 years, I've seen and experienced God's goodness, faithfulness and love in so many ways, big and small. I have used all of my previous experiences to fulfill the needs of the areas in which I serve.
Here are just 10 things that I've learned over the last 10 years:
1. I really like avocado. Never liked it before moving to Mexico but now I eat one a day, at least.
2. I can do without the "comforts" of home, although I do miss Milo's and my mom's cooking.
3. You are never too old to learn a new language. I moved here at the age of 28 and while I had a good grasp of the Spanish language I didn't really start speaking it until 6 years later, yikes!
4. I'm apparently more "Mexican" than some of my Mexican friends (right, Teresa?). I like spicy and foods that are odd for us gueros.
5. I LOVE tostilocos (see #4), ask me about them if you don't know what they are.
6. I really enjoy being a part of and seeing friends meet the love of their lives, begin their relationships, get engaged, married and even have children (a lot of whom I am currently teaching).
7. I still love teaching "kids" of all ages (babies all the way through college-aged students).
8. I miss the hectic but incredible lifestyle of Mission Adventures but I know that I don't have the energy to do it again, sorry Mark! I will still encourage you & your team and rejoice in your victories.
9. God is faithful, ALWAYS, in the small things and in the big things. It is often not in my timing but always perfect!
10. I can't wait for the next 10 years!! Coming up, an expansion of our Preschool educating our missionary children and starting a K-12 school to provide affordable and quality education for our missionary families and children from our local communities.
Thank you for supporting me over the past 10 years. Your prayers, partnership and patronage have been greatly appreciated and desperately needed. I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider continuing that support. If you would like more information about what all God is doing here in Mexico and how you can be a part of that, message me at [email protected] or you can sign up to be a part of my mailing list here: http://bit.ly/1vfw9Vl
