A few weeks ago, during one of our morning gatherings with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) San Diego/Baja's San Antonio del Mar campus, we had a time of intercession. Now this isn't all that odd, we have two morning meetings and one evening meeting each week where we come together for worship and intercession but this time was a bit different. Amanda, our intercession leader for the day, decided that we were going to push back all the chairs and gave each person a number, 1 or 2. We were then instructed to form 2 circles in the middle of the room, the inside circle facing out with everyone who got a number 1 and an outer circle facing inward composed of everyone with the number 2.
The goal for our prayer time that morning was to hear from the Lord & pray over the person in front of us, sharing any words or pictures from the Lord. We were given only 5 minutes per person & when the "timer" went off, the outer circle moved one step to the left. I like to call this style, Speed Praying (aka speed dating).

Many people were intimidated by this because it was all brand new. Thoughts of inadequacies and language barriers and the unknown invaded our minds but we sucked it up and did it anyway.
And it was AMAZING!!!!!
Words of encouragement were spoken over each person that day. Although individually we didn't get to pray over everyone in the room, every person was prayed over. God spoke life over our campus that day. Those that were scared as they heard what we were going to do left with a renewed sense of purpose. Those who had never heard from the Lord for someone else walked away excited about experiencing their Savior in a different way.
While I didn't get a specific word for everyone, as I prayed over each person that stood before me God reminded me of His love for them. I could see Him, a reflection of Him, in them and it was beautiful. Each one that I prayed for were completely different, coming from different countries, speaking different languages, all here for a different reason but they all had Christ in common. I was able to speak healing over some of them, encouragement over all of them, and some very specific answers to some very specific questions that they were asking for a few.
In turn, people spoke words of love and life and affirmation over me. I was filled with joy and where before I had been tired, I walked away excited for my day and all that God was going to show me. I heard that I was loved and wanted and even needed. Isn't that what we all long for anyways, to be loved, wanted and needed. God loves, wants and needs each of you but the best part is, He chose YOU!! Have you chosen Him in return??
