This weekend in Tijuana, Mexico we built homes for 2 more families. The family I built for were some of the most kind and beautiful people I have had the pleasure to have met. It was a small home (to Canadians we would call a shed) but to them it was much more. This will give them the safety, comfort and support they need. It also gives them hope for the future....for themselves and for the community around them. This is their testimony of God's love and this "little home" can be a lighthouse of strength to help this community grow strong. It's such a shame that these wonderful Mexican people were born in poverty. What I can learn and take from this experience is that when you have nothing valuable in worldly riches, you tend to rely on the love and support of each other. That connection with your community makes you a very spiritually wealthy person. |
Each week this Tijuana YWAM crew goes out and builds homes for needy families. By building these homes they are changing lives. They let the hands of God guide them and this service is done with no pay cheque at the end of the week. This is true Christian service and dedication to the community around them. I'm once again blown away by the hospitality and support given to our Boardwalk staff members. They are part of something really special there and should take pride in the work they do. When the Mexican communities rise up from poverty and become a thriving nation of God, they can know their efforts given were part of that.
Thanks again to everyone who participated in the build this weekend. It was truly an honour and blessing to be part of.
