My sister, Alisha, is a HUGE couponer. A couponer is someone who shops entirely with coupons and a true couponer can walk away with a grocery cart full of stuff having only paid about $10 for it. She even has a blog about all the amazing deals that she has found. Check out her blog "Alisha's Savings". Now, with my limited resources and lack of time, I have found that I will probably never be a true couponer, even though I would love to be. I must admit I don't really have the patience for it but I do try to save as much money as I can when i do shop.
Being a missionary and having lived for so many years in another country, I found that I could get most of the things I needed by purchasing them online. Because my sister got me starting in the concept of the couponing world, I decided to try to put this into practice in my online shopping world. Many online stores have coupons but they are called "promotional codes". You can search through many sites and find tons of valuable codes for most websites. I've used these throughout the years with much success getting free shipping and up to 25% off my total and things like that.
Recently, my sister sent me an email about this thing called Groupon. Groupon is available in most cities around the US and offers amazing deals on so many wonderful things. There is also the opportunity for coupons and deals for many online stores. The email that I received from my sister had a deal for $20 worth of merchandise from Soap.com for only $10. I looked into the website to see if it would really be worth it and I found that most of the things I purchase from stores like CVS and Target can be purchased from soap.com and in most cases they are offered for a much lower price. I had definitely found a way to coupon!!!! This just keeps getting better!!
So I purchased the $20 worth of goodies for only $10 coupon and then started researching what I wanted to buy from the website. Below you will see a chart of what I purchased from Soap.com and a price comparison to what I would have spent had I bought those things from CVS (where I normally buy most of my toiletries). One fun thing I found on Soap.com as I was trying to get the most out of my $20 is that they offer many manufacturer's coupons with just a check of a box so many of their already low priced items are even cheaper!!
By getting this deal, I ended up getting $24.79 worth of merchandise for only the $10 I paid for the coupon. The best part is, I also received a referral code that you can use and get 20% off your first purchase at either Soap.com or Diapers.com and I get $10 credit for my future purchases. How cool is that!!! So head on over to Soap.com or Diapers.com and don't forget to use SHER1808 in the Promotional Code box during check out to receive your 20% off.
If you also sign up for Groupon by clicking the link, I will also receive $10 towards my next purchase. Groupon has so many offers with savings up to 95% on some things. They are available for local businesses in most major cities in the US and have offers like 4 movie tickets for $20 or $100 worth of books/calendars from Picaboo (online customization photo books) for only $35.
So, what are you waiting for??? Happy saving and supporting a missionary at the same time!
