There is an article circulating around my Facebook feed today that has caught my eye because it is something that I have said before but also something I didn't really mean in the way I said it. That phrase is "God won't give you more than you can bear". What I should say instead, is "God won't give you more than you can bear with him" (or something way more poetic than that). What I mean is, God will allow us to go through things that are unbearable in our own finite human selves but if we truly believe in Him and that He is the Almighty, there is nothing we can't bear if we TRUST that He is carrying that burden with us.
Here is a great snippet from that article:
"Or the times when I was utterly alone, and the silence was too much to bear. Those are the times that taught me he’s not just a want or a convenient symbol of love or a reason to do good deeds.
No, he’s the very air we breathe.
And he’s the only one who can make it bearable when life is simply anything but."
