It's that time of year, Fall. My favorite season of the year. I've often wondered why I love Fall so much. Is it because of the cooler weather? Is it because of the beautiful colors on the trees? Is it because Fall equals College Football {ROLL TIDE!}?
I like to think it is all of those things plus as a preschool teacher, I've realized that there are crazy amounts of fun holidays and therefore fun preschool crafts to be done in the Fall.
I mean you have Apple Season, Mexican Independence Day, Pumpkin Season, Harvest Parties, Halloween, Fall Trees, Fall Animals, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas.
Have you noticed that there are so many cute crafts available for all of these units?? This year for our Thanksgiving Feast with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) San Diego/Baja, our preschool students at Little Builder's Preschool are in charge of decorations. We have been busy making turkeys, fall trees, Mayflower Journey, placemats, Thankful Candles, Silly Handprint Scarecrows, etc*. The list literally goes on & on.

As I was preparing some fall leaves with my awesome Cricut Mini, I didn't want to throw away the "cutout" shape. As most preschool teachers (or teachers in general for that matter) know, if you can still use it for ANYTHING you don't throw it away! I was thinking about all the ways that I could use these leftovers and realized that I had the PERFECT way to make one craft into two!
Our kiddos have recently been enjoying using the watercolors painting station in our classroom and some seriously paint a dozen pictures a day. While most get bored painting a few lines and are done, others will paint for hours and we've decided that some of them NEED to be framed, they are that good.
Because of this, we have a plethora of watercolor paintings all over our classroom just waiting to be used for something.
Here is where my genius kicks in. What if we "married" the two?? So I did just that!

How cool do those look??? All I did was take the watercolor painting that the kids have done & haven't taken home yet that are piling up and taking over our classroom and cut them half. I also took the construction paper leaf page and cut them in half. Then layered one on top of the other (obviously it needs to be the leaves on top of the water colors).
