Easter is coming up soon. For some, its all about the bunny, chocolate, eggs, and baskets filled with gifts & candy. For me and others, as Christians, it is a time to celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is the week to remember, reflect and rejoice on the sacrifice of His death and subsequent resurrection and how that has transformed our individual lives.
I Corinthians 1:18 says, "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." The cross represents the sacrifice that Jesus made when He gave His life for us.

One of the ways that we teach our students about this HUGE concept of Resurrection is through Resurrection Rolls. These are an easy way for the kids to get involved & for them to see what we are talking about when say the tomb was empty.
Resurrection rolls are super simple to make & the kids love getting involved.
Ingredients:
• Canned Crescent Rolls (1 per student)
• Marshmallows (1 per student, need to be small enough to fit inside the rolls)
• Cinnamon & Sugar (just a coating so depends on how many students)
• Melted Butter (just a coating so depends on how many students)
Directions:
√ Open and unroll 1 crescent roll for each child.
√ Give each child a marshmallow to put in the large end of the crescent roll (this represents Jesus being placed the tomb).
√ Have the child roll up the marshmallow inside the dough (this represents the stone being rolled in front of the tomb).
√ Then roll the ball of dough with marshmallow inside in some butter and cinnamon/sugar mixture (this represents the spices that Mary & Mary put on His body each day for 3 days).
√ Put the rolls on a baking sheet in back according to the package directions (we used a toaster oven so the kids could keep watch during class).
√ Once they are cooked, the kids can see that the marshmallow has "disappeared".
We then talk to the students about why Jesus disappeared and what that means while the students are eating their special snack.
