For preschoolers this can be a great way to practice letter or number recognition. For early elementary school students this can be a great option for early finishers or morning work that is fun but still educational. These can reinforce all kinds of things; addition, subtraction, fractions to decimals, sight words, spelling words, even algebra and science!
This week I have a FREE sample of my Color by Code: Valentine's Day activity. This Color by Code activity combines letter and number recognition. It also includes an option with only 3 choices for those very beginning learners who don't quite get the concept.
A teacher friend of mine said this, "We have been trying to teach our prek how to do these for almost 2 weeks and although most get the concept and enjoy it, we have about 4-5 students that just don't get it. Only having 3 different colors may make the concept a lot easier for them finally. Thank you."
As you can see in the sample below, on the right, this student has barely colored the page and what they have colored is not always correct. In the sample on the left she has completely colored in the entire image and all three colors are in the correct places. I believe that this will give this student confidence to complete another Color by Code activity and know that they can accomplish it without frustration or anxiety.
The freebie includes 2 coloring pages, one with letter recognition and one with number recognition, and also includes the control sheet for those 2 pages.
